Engine Options
One-ton trucks like the RAM 3500 rely on powerful engines that give them tremendous capabilities. The RAM pickup’s standard engine is a 6.4-liter V8 powerplant that produces 405 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. A 6.7-liter inline six-cylinder Cummins® diesel engine is available, delivering 1,075 lb-ft of torque and 430 horsepower through a new TorqueFlite® HD eight-speed transmission. With the right equipment, the RAM 3500 can tow up to 36,610 lbs and haul as much as 7,590 lbs.
Cab Features
Unlike most competitors, the RAM 3500 has a luxury-like cab adorned with thoughtful and useful amenities. Acoustic glass and active noise cancellation are standard for the full-size pickup, for example, and they maintain the cab’s serenity even in models with the diesel engine. The truck’s multi-level center console is large enough to accommodate a laptop with a screen as large as 15 inches.
