One of the biggest reasons to choose a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle over any other used model is the rigorous inspection it must pass before it can be certified. This can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but for Chrysler vehicles, including Dodge cars, Jeeps, and Ram trucks, it involves a full 125-point inspection. In order for any vehicle to be certified by Chrysler, it cannot be more than five years old, cannot have more than 75,000 miles on it, must not have any damage to the frame, and has to have a clean title.
Beyond these initial requirements, a thorough inspection is performed by a certified Chrysler technician that knows these vehicles inside and out. Certified Pre-Owned vehicles from Chrysler have to have fully functional electrical systems, including heating and air conditioning, turn signals and other lamps, and the dashboard lights and indicators. Both the interior and exterior are checked over and inspected to ensure they are in excellent condition and must meet high appearance standards.
The inspection includes checking the tires and making sure they have adequate depth and are in good condition, along with all of the fluids in the vehicle. It must be able to start easily and switch gears smoothly as it did when first manufactured. Even minor details are included: the interior is vacuumed and cleaned and must be free of any odors – you will not find a CPO vehicle that smells like an ashtray.
Although the rigorous inspection that every Certified Pre-Owned vehicle goes through is part of the peace of mind you get when you choose a CPO model, the real reassurance comes from the pair of warranties that Chrysler offers on them. These warranties are included on all CPO vehicles, whether you are looking for a Jeep, a Dodge, or even a Ram pickup. Additional certified warranty plans are available if you are interested, but these two are provided standard.
The first warranty on all Certified Pre-Owned vehicles from Chrysler is a 7-year or 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. This warranty covers repairs or replacements for just about every powertrain component in the vehicle. It begins from when the vehicle was originally sold as new, so it is particularly valuable with vehicles that are only a few years old.
The second warranty on all Certified Pre-Owned Chrysler vehicles is a 3-month or 3,000-mile maximum care warranty that covers most components on the entire vehicle. More than 5,000 components are covered by this warranty, so you know that if anything goes wrong after buying your car, you are covered. This warranty starts when you purchase a CPO vehicle, so it is a great value even on older models.
Every Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Chrysler also comes with free Roadside Assistance that extends your peace of mind beyond simply confidence in your car, and ensures you know that you will be taken care of no matter what happens. For example, the Roadside Assistance includes help with flat-tire service, gas delivery if you run out, and battery jump assistance. Lockout service and towing, if your vehicle is inoperative, are also provided.
There is even a car rental allowance, up to $35 per day, to help you out if you find your vehicle needs repairs or is inoperative due to covered components.
