This rich history started at the dawn of World War II and has shaped America’s automotive landscape for nearly a century by providing some of the most rugged and reliable transportation ever made. As your California used Jeep dealer, we’re proud to continue that Jeep tradition here at Orange Coast Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat.
When you shop with us, you become part of the Orange Coast family, and that means you’ll reap the benefits of everything we have to offer. For starters, one of the greatest things about being a Jeep dealer here in California is helping our customers find the perfect Jeep for their next adventure. We not only share your passion for the Jeep lineup, but we also share your sense of adventure!
It’s that sense of adventure that inspires us to share more about the Jeep brand and the best-selling models of all time. After highlighting all the services we offer as well as our numerous awards, you’ll see why we’re one of the top-ranked used Jeep dealers in California. Let the adventure begin!
The Jeep legacy was born out of necessity when the American Army asked 135 automakers to design a quarter-ton “light reconnaissance vehicle” that would serve them in World War II. Bantam, Ford, and Willys were the only three automakers to respond and collectively worked together to design the first-ever “Jeep.” Officially known as the Willys-Overland Quad, the Jeep was designed in 75 days and made its official debut in the American Army on Veterans’ Day 1940.
The Jeep soon became a symbol of freedom and capability thanks to its contributions to the war efforts. By 1950, Willys-Overland trademarked the “Jeep” name and set its eyes on the civilian market. In 1954, Americans finally got a taste of everything Jeep had to offer with the debut of the CJ-5. Jeep was immediately a symbol of freedom, capability, and adventure thanks to its rugged capability and innovative four-wheel drive system that made it an instant success among American drivers.
This success continued for Jeep into the 1960s when Jeep grew its lineup to 14 models that extended from the Fleetvan and the Wagoneer to the Gladiator, Super Wagoneer, and Jeepster Commando. By the 1970s, Jeep introduced the first-ever full-time four-wheel drive system and saw models like the SJ taking home top honors for its innovation. The Jeep brand remained at an all-time high throughout the decade, which paved the way for many new firsts in the 1980s, including an all-new SUV known as the Cherokee XJ that boasted the industry’s first uniframe construction.
Jeep continued improving its four-wheel drive technology throughout the 1990s and released the Grand Cherokee WJ in 1999 as the most capable SUV ever made. This theme continued in the new millennium with the revolutionary Wrangler Rubicon that made its debut in 2003 as the most capable vehicle ever produced by the Jeep brand. Then, just when Jeep fans thought the lineup couldn’t get any better, Jeep surprised everyone with the return of classics like the Gladiator (with a modern twist), the all-electric Wrangler 4xe, and power-hungry beasts like the Rubicon 392.
The Wrangler may be the vehicle that is most synonymous with Jeep. While this iconic off-roader’s true roots are found in Jeep’s military vehicles from WWII, the Wrangler descends most directly from the now-retired CJ line. While the Wrangler looks similar to its predecessor, its makeup is quite different, taking on a wider stance and, of course, expanding upon what the CJ line offered. The Wrangler has always set the standard for Jeep’s iconic styling and design, but when it first came out, it had square headlamps. This didn’t last long, as Jeep quickly realized that there was a certain charm in its now iconic circular headlamps. We wouldn’t have the Wrangler any other way.
Aside from its iconic design, the Wrangler is one of the most fun and thrilling vehicles you’ll find. It has an immediately-recognizable fun, open-air design, and the Wrangler has been a pioneer of off-roading vehicles since its release in 1987. Today, it continues to tear up both the roads and the trails and continues to find innovative ways of combating obstacles. Whether you’re an experienced off-roader or just looking for an SUV with a little more flare, the Wrangler delivers more than most other vehicles. And who doesn’t want that iconic Jeep styling?
The Cherokee, which is one of Jeep’s longest-lasting nameplates, is nearing its 50th birthday. When it was first introduced in 1975, it served as a two-door version of the Wagoneer. Focused on catering to a younger market, the Wagoneer provided both style and adventure, thanks to its 4WD system, and the new Cherokee model adopted that spirit. The Cherokee was an instant success, and its success has lasted as it continues to be one of Jeep’s most iconic vehicles.
The Cherokee is an athletic compact SUV offering Trail Rated off-roading performance. That’s a fantastically unique combination that you won’t find elsewhere in the segment. The Cherokee is ideal for anybody who wants a little extra adventure in their driving life but doesn’t want to go all out on a Wrangler. One of the biggest benefits of the Cherokee is its fantastic cargo space, allowing you to load up and hit the road for your adventure. Cargo space and off-roading capability are an important combination, especially if camping is part of the plan.
The exciting thing about the Cherokee, though, is that it is completely in disguise. From the outside, it looks like any other crossover, but little do others know what that small vehicle can do on the trails. We are sure you’ll have a good time learning just how capable this vehicle is.
The Grand Cherokee made a big first entrance when it burst into the North American International Auto Show. Literally. In a famous introduction, this vehicle actually crashed through the glass at the convention center. The Grand Cherokee has lived up to the hype of its entrance. This midsize SUV replaced the Wagoneer and set a new standard for SUVs everywhere by way of its luxury features. But what’s so grand about this Cherokee?
Well, actually, the name says a lot: think the Cherokee, but grander. This luxury SUV builds upon the best features of the Cherokee but adds an extra row of seats and focuses on cultivating luxury throughout the vehicle's exterior and interior. This vehicle is noticeably above the Cherokee in terms of luxury features, providing color schemes, lighting, accents, and materials that make this a true luxury vehicle and not a luxury imitator.
Some luxury vehicles are too refined to go off the road, but this is Jeep we’re talking about. With the same Trail Rated 4x4 engineering you’d expect to find in all its Jeep siblings, the Grand Cherokee is as ready to hit the trails as you are. With this luxury-adventure combination comes premium technology that is ready to serve you, whether you’re seeking adventure or simply to enjoy your daily commute. The technology features are not only helpful but serve to craft the vehicle’s luxury aesthetic. No space is wasted in the Grand Cherokee, and you’ll enjoy the attention to detail.
There’s a reason this car literally burst into the market, and there’s a reason it continues to be so sought-after to this day. It’s rare to find a healthy balance of luxury and off-roading, but if anyone can, it's Jeep. Not only have they found it, but they have mastered it.
The Renegade is the baby of the family. Having only been on the market since 2015, this small SUV is Jeep’s first vehicle in the segment. The Renegade has been a unique vehicle from the start, having been crafted in Italy and introducing the world’s first 9-speed automatic transmission in a small SUV. This spunky little SUV takes after its older sibling, the Wrangler, with the iconic features you know and love, but with a little more SUV-style girth. The Renegade is an eye-catcher on the road, thanks to its recognizable yet unique architecture. Strong and vibrant color schemes make it a fun vehicle for those looking to brighten up the road, and the dual-panoramic sunroof on the interior allows the road to brighten up the vehicle.
The benefit of the Renegade is its unique combination of compactness with SUV architecture and Jeep capability. You can’t find that exact combination anywhere except in the Renegade. This vehicle makes a tremendous aesthetically-pleasing commuter vehicle while also opening up the door to adventures off the beaten path. One of the biggest missed opportunities drivers face is neglecting to push their Jeep to its limits, and that applies to the Renegade along with every other Jeep. It may look like a regular small SUV, but that iconic plated grille between the two circular headlamps reminds you of what the vehicle can really do. So, don’t let it be a mystery; find out just how much the Renegade can do.
Since off-roading and adventure are what Jeep does best, you won’t find any Jeep sedans. Jeep thinks big, and its vehicles are proof of this. That doesn’t mean that all of its vehicles are huge, though, and the Jeep Compass is a great vehicle for drivers who are looking for the excitement of Jeep capability but in a smaller vehicle. As a crossover, it has the architecture and body mass to support off-roading engineering and capability, but it is still compact enough to appeal to those looking to keep it small.
Most subcompact SUVs are known for their ability to commute, maybe to handle an on-road driving trip, but rarely for their ability to go off-road. But, guess what: the Compass is Trail Rated. You should know by now that Jeep won’t give you anything that isn’t ready for adventure. Jeep’s vehicles are ready to take on the challenges that come their way, and the Compass’s humble exterior should never trick you into thinking that it’s not ready for action. Nor should it trick you into thinking that the interior is not full of luxury features, making for a great night out on the town when you’re all done on the trail.
The Compass is amazingly well-balanced and provides far more than meets the eye. This is the perfect vehicle for those who live in Urban areas and need something that is easy to maneuver and easy to park while still having the capability to go off-road once you get out of the city. You’ll have fun in this crossover both on the crowded streets and on the open trails.
The CJ-5 (1955-1983) marked Jeep’s debut in the civilian market and featured a softer exterior with rounded body contours and a more comfortable interior than its military predecessors. Also offering more off-road capability, the CJ-5 was an adventure-ready rig that could tackle any road, anytime. The model’s popularity coincided with the debut of the CJ-6 (1955-1981), which answered the growing demand for more passenger and cargo room by extending the wheelbase 20 inches.
Jeep added a touch of luxury to its lineup with the iconic Wagoneer (1963-1991). Affectionately known as the “Father of All luxury 4WD SUVs,” the Wagoneer was the epitome of sophistication and style. Luckily for drivers, Jeep had an even bigger surprise up its sleeve with the debut of the Super Wagoneer (1966-1969) and the Grand Wagoneer (1984-1991). With the models selling extremely well for Jeep, the return of the Wagoneer name as a sub-brand of Jeep comes as no surprise.
The Wrangler made its debut in the Jeep lineup with the all-new Wrangler YJ (1987-1996). The YJ, which is considered the second generation of the CJ lineup, continued the rich legacy of the CJ series with a modern twist. The YJ blended interior comforts with rugged capability and paved the way for the Wrangler that we know and love today.
As the most awarded SUV in history, the Jeep Grand Cherokee made its debut in 1992. Now a staple in the Jeep lineup, the midsize SUV is proof that rugged capability and luxury aren’t mutually exclusive. Instead, you can have it all, from Jeep’s legendary four-wheel drive technology to a premium interior loaded with features and comforts that are fit for royalty.
