New for the 2022 model year are a number of technological advancements to make the Gladiator even more appealing than ever before. Uconnect 4 with a 7-inch touchscreen replaces the old 5-inch screen and Uconnect 3 on the Sport trim, while the Uconnect 4C suite with an 8.4-inch screen and nine Alpine premium speakers is now standard on the Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave. Remote proximity keyless entry has also been made standard on the top trim, and there is an improved standard cabin filter that removes up to 95% of air particulate matter.
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is available in nine different trims, ranging from the basic Sport to the off-road Rubicon and luxurious High Altitude. You'll find that the trims can be outfitted with a number of different interior color options, including Black, Heritage Tan, and Steel Gray. For the exterior, you have plenty of different colors to choose from, including Firecracker Red, Hydro Blue, Sarge Green, and Snazzberry, along with an array of whites, blacks, and greys.

Championing two powerful powertrains of the V6 variety, the 2022 Jeep Gladiator takes no prisoners on the road with either a gasoline Pentastar V6 or the turbocharged EcoDiesel V6. The base power plant is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which delivers 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. You can have the Pentastar configured with a 6-speed manual or remove the challenge of manually shifting by opting for an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The alternative to the Pentastar is the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6. This turbocharged power plant puts down 260 horsepower and a massive 442 pound-feet of torque. This is the perfect rock-crawling and towing option for enthusiasts of various driving disciplines. It gives you plenty to work with for the Jeep Gladiator while also offering a fuel economy rating of 22 miles per gallon in the city and up to 28 miles per gallon on the highway.
With 17-inch wheels paired up with either 33-inch all-terrain tires, you have a truck designed to tackle some of the harshest roads imaginable. With the available Rock-Trac transfer case, you have full control over the four-wheel drive capabilities of the Gladiator, including being able to utilize the 4:1 low range on the Rubicon to crawl some of the steepest hills and rocks using an effective 84:1 crawl ratio. You can also alter the type of drive modes by engaging the available Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials for when you need to power through difficult passages or over obstacles.
Many of the Gladiator's traits are made possible not only because of the powerful engines that sit under the hood but also because of the design of the suspension and frame. For instance, the off-road capabilities of the Rubicon are made possible in large part thanks to the optional 2-inch diameter FOX shocks to dampen the jolts and bumps you're guaranteed to encounter while traveling off-road. Additional features like a sway bar disconnect also give the Rubicon the ability to achieve higher amounts of wheel articulation by up to 30%.
The suspension tuning allows the Gladiator to engage in an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, a breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, and a departure angle of up to 26 degrees, making it one of the most off-road capable pickup trucks on the market. With the added bonus of a ground clearance of up to 11.1-inches, it gives the Jeep Gladiator the ability to ford over 30 inches of water. But it's not just off the road where the 2022 Jeep Gladiator shines; it's also designed to perform exceptionally as a utility vehicle.
If you need a pickup truck for payload capacity and towing, the Gladiator is perfect for the task. With the Pentastar V6, you can tow up to 7,650 pounds worth of cargo, making it a great vehicle for hauling other smaller vehicles to your favorite vacation spot or taking a mobile trailer on a cross-country trip. The Gladiator is also capable of carrying up to 1,700 pounds of payload in the rear five-foot bed, making it more than capable for lots of day-to-day hauling tasks, too.
But the added benefit of the Gladiator just isn't in its utilitarian persona. You can also get a lot of comfort and space out of the vehicle as well. With seating for up to five people across two rows, you can make use of up to 103 cubic feet of passenger volume across both rows, making it quite the roomy midsize truck. With the inclusion of electronic stability control, roll mitigation, and trailer-sway control, the Gladiator is designed to carry out its utilitarian functions while also ensuring a safe and smooth ride possible for those inside the vehicle.
What's more, is that the Gladiator can fully embrace its outdoor nature with its modular exterior. Much like its smaller SUV sibling, the Wrangler, you can take full advantage of the detachable doors, foldable windshield, and removable roof of the Gladiator, creating a truly open-air driving experience the likes of which you won't find from most competing pickups in the segment. At the core of the tech ecosystem within the Gladiator, occupants will find a lot of versatility made available with the Uconnect 4 7.0-inch touchscreen display system, which is standard on the 2022 model year trims. However, if you want more screen space, more functionality, and more connectivity out of the Gladiator, the Uconnect 4C NAV suite with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display is available. This upgrade features voice-activated navigation and infotainment system controls, as well as available SiriusXM Satellite HD radio with Travel Link functionality and Traffic Plus. With the SiriusXM suite, you can easily navigate to your destination while avoiding congestion and rush-hour traffic.
