Our Official 2022 Jeep Compass Trim Guide

It’s time to celebrate! More specifically, we’re celebrating the release of the 2022 Jeep Compass, and we’ve put together a trim guide to give you a glimpse into what you can expect before you visit the dealership. At Orange Coast, we’re your California Jeep Compass dealer, but we’d like to take a moment to discuss the Compass and its associated trim levels. The Compass is a beautiful vehicle that will immediately catch your attention, and we’re excited to tell you more about it.

The first thing to know about this year’s compass is that it starts at an MSRP of just over $25,000, and this will get you the base model Sport, then going in for a little over $1,500 more will allow you to upgrade to the Latitude trim. Both of these trims can be purchased with FWD or 4×4; however, they are the only two trims in the lineup that offer FWD. Each succeeding trim has 4×4 standard, including the Latitude Lux and the Limited. The Compass Trailhawk is the off-roading oriented trim, and you should get the High Altitude for the most premium experience. This year’s Compass also includes a new limited edition called the (RED), and it’s a special occurrence as it’s in partnership with (RED), an organization that is working towards a healthier future for all humans.

Sport

The Sport, as mentioned prior, is the base Compass model. FWD comes standard, but 4×4 is an option for those who need or prefer it. You may be thinking to yourself that the base Compass model must have made some drastic cutbacks, right? Not true. Sure, some luxury features are omitted, such as leather seats, but this is a minor discrepancy in the grand scheme of things. With the Sport comes a whole host of safety features that we aren’t always used to seeing on base models, including but not limited to a Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and so much more.

What of the performance? This is one area of the 2022 Compass Sport that you shouldn’t be concerned with. Why is that? Well, every Compass trim level comes with the same 2.4L I-4 engine that comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, although a 9-speed transmission is also available. This means that every Compass trim creates the same 177 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque, with a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. The most worthwhile part of this powertrain is its efficiency.

No matter how you slice it, the Compass, and the Sport trim, by extension, are immensely fuel-efficient, both with FWD and 4×4 configurations. EPA-estimated ratings with FWD sit at 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway, and 4×4 models get 22 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

Latitude

The Latitude trim is the next step for the Compass. Taking the basis of the Sport, the Latitude improves upon a few key areas to better the overall experience. Starting with a simple change, the 16-inch wheels from the base model have been swapped with 17-inch ones instead. While this may not be a big change, the larger tires are nice to have on this vehicle that is meant to go on and off-road. The Latitude also includes roof rails, making this trim perfect for vacationing, and the steering wheel now includes a premium wrap.

With the Latitude comes the same safety features as the Sport, and the same goes for the implemented infotainment center. Both of these trim levels come with an 8.4-inch infotainment center that includes various amenities such as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, among others. Moving up to the succeeding trim will implement extra features to the mix for both the media and safety.

Latitude LUX

What makes the Latitude LUX a more compelling offer than the already intriguing Latitude trim? The additional tag ‘LUX’ stands for ‘luxury,’ a perfect namesake for this trim level. The aforementioned 17-inch wheels have again been upgraded, this time to 18-inches. Drivers who spring for the Latitude LUX can also expect an enhanced infotainment center experience with a 10.1-inch screen to replace the 8.4-inch one that comes in the lower trims. The larger screen will make it easier to see and control your infotainment as you cruise down the San Diego Freeway.

A slew of advanced safety features also come standard this time around, adding new features such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Active Lane Management, and more. Lastly, the interior has also seen a wide range of enhancements that aim towards increasing the occupants’ comfort. With the Latitude LUX, you’ll get a heated steering wheel and leather seats that are also heated. The driver’s seat, in particular, also gets a special upgrade to an 8-way power-adjustable seat, so you can easily adjust the seat to fit your comfort level.

Limited

With the excellent Latitude LUX in mind, how does the Limited differentiate itself? Simple, the answer is by adding even more features to an already bustling feature set. This time around, the 18-inch wheels are diamond cut to create a unique look. Besides a glossy exterior, you’ve got yourself more safety features than before, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, automatic headlamps, and more. Most of the features are shared with the prior trims, but the Limited is on a whole other level aesthetically. Its sleek lines and unique wheels really make it stand out from the other trims.

Trailhawk

Now we can have some fun. The Trailhawk is the off-roaders choice for a reason. Ultimately, the feature set is highly reminiscent of the Limited trim that we already discussed, albeit with 17-inch diamond-cut wheels, but this isn’t a deal-breaker. However, the Trailhawk has all of the features that you’d want to successfully tackle tough trails. Thanks to features such as a suspension built exclusively for off-roading performance, a 4×4 system, and tow hooks on the front of the vehicle, the Trailhawk is the only off-roading-friendly vehicle out of the bunch. You should test this Jeep out on the Maple Spring OHV Trail.

(RED)

The Compass (RED) model doesn’t only deserve mention, but it deserves recognition as well. It’s not often that we see manufacturers openly commit to a cause as large as healthcare on a global scale. This limited edition won’t be around forever, but every vehicle sold assists Jeep in its partnership with this esteemed group will directly benefit them. Every Compass (RED) model includes large 19-inch granite wheels that are built for durability and longevity. What is likely to be the real draw for customers, other than those looking to assist with (RED) and their mission, is the exclusive red exterior with black trim. The consensus is that this trim level is a striking and beautiful vehicle, and the exclusive (RED) liftgate decal is a stamp that proves that you’ve done a fantastic service for humans in need.

High Altitude

For the ultimate Compass experience, the High Altitude remains top-dog for a reason. Combine every luxury feature that we’ve mentioned thus far, and include the likes of LED headlamps and a 10.25-inch Digital Cluster Display that replaces your standard analog gauges with a vibrant and large screen. One of our favorite additions to this trim level is the massive panoramic sunroof. This dual-pane sunroof will give the cabin of your Compass plenty of airflow and natural light, and at night-time, you’ll have the urge to lay down in your vehicle and simply stare at the stars. You shouldn’t have a problem with this either since the High Altitude includes the same power-adjustable seat with lumbar support.
