We listed the Newport Beach location due to its proximity to Orange Coast CJDRF (and the beach).

Orangetheory is an intense coach-driven workout whose participants split time between the treadmill, rowing, and weight training (and rest). When done in a typical studio/class setting, the class wears heart monitors and listens to motivational coaching by the teacher. Essentially the goal is to increase heart rates up to certain “zones” in order to generate excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). Orangetheory is releasing “Orangetheory at Home” workouts for free on Instagram TV (IGTV). There is no special equipment or heart-rate monitors required––all you need is, well, you.

Introduction to Marine Science

There are a lot of different options in the curriculum catalog at OCC. The online accounting class at OCC was a recommendation for more career-oriented reasons. Although that could be the case with Intro to Marine Science as well; however, there are a number of additional reasons to enroll in this fascinating class. Maybe this is a field of study you were always interested in but never pursued.

Perhaps you’re an ocean lover, but have no idea how the tides or the current systems or the marine ecosystem in general works. Or you love dolphins or sharks, or you just love to learn, etc. Whatever the case may be, there are a lot of people who are fascinated by the ocean but don’t know much about it. In that case, OCC has you covered.

Orange Coast College has a very impressive marine science program for a community college. It includes marine biology, oceanography, and marine aquarium classes. There is even an opportunity for more serious students to take a four day trip to Baja during the Gray Whale Ecology Field Course. With these classes, you’ll learn about bioluminescence, tidal changes, and fish migration patterns. You’ll be able to impress your friends with this knowledge and start a career as a marine biologist by taking the first step and registering for an Intro to Marine Science class at OCC.
