This five-passenger model is loaded with advanced features even on the base trim level. With three available engines and seven trims to choose from, you rest assured that you will find the perfect match for your busy lifestyle.
All new Cherokee models come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. These advanced tech features enable you to stream your favorite songs and artists seamlessly. As for the cargo room, this petite crossover offers 25.8 cubic feet of space behind the back row. If you need just a tad bit more, you can lower the cargo floor to increase the area to about 27.6 cubic feet. Let’s dive deeper into the performance specs, interior features, and exterior styling elements to get to know the new 2020 Jeep Cherokee a lot better.
When it comes to compact SUVs, some people use them for hauling the kids off to school and heading to extracurricular activities later in the day. Others use the crossover for both city driving and heading out on adventures. Luckily, Jeep understands this concept, and they have created three engines for the 2020 Jeep Cherokee.
The first is a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that generates 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and FWD, it has a fuel economy set at 26 mpg combined (22 city/31 highway) and can haul up to 2,000 pounds. This powertrain can also be fitted with an AWD system, as well. The second option is a 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir 2 4-cylinder engine that puts out 180 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. Using dual variable valve timing and a flow-control valve intake manifold, this engine enables the Cherokee to travel for approximately 474 miles before needing to refuel. The third choice is a 3.2L Pentastar V6 engine that produces 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. With the same 9-speed automatic transmission, this model has a best-in-class towing capacity set at 4,500 pounds.
The Trailhawk model is only available with the 4WD system since it was built for off-roading. When you are going over dangerous terrain, Jeep’s Active Drive system will monitor the slippage. Active Drive Lock adds a rear locker and a handy Rock Mode to the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System. This advanced off-roading feature provides you with selectable driving modes to handle different types of terrain.
Higher air intake and special water sealant enable you to drive through streams with no trouble at all. You don’t have to worry about flooding the engine. A higher ground clearance level also allows you to make it over rough terrain without damaging the underside of the vehicle. Enhance maneuverability, articulation, and traction give you a smooth driving experience just about anywhere.
With seven unique trims to choose from, you can find exactly what you are looking for with the new 2020 Jeep Cherokee. The base Latitude trim is available with Black or Black with Frost Beige accents throughout the cabin. It also features the voice-controlled UConnect 4 infotainment interface that is displayed on a 7-inch touchscreen. This system operates with the previously mentioned Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth capabilities. SiriusXM Radio can also be added for more music options. Dual USB ports are provided for charging your mobile devices, and a rearview camera is also included.
Additional safety packages include blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, rain-sensing wipers, and more.
Next is the Latitude Plus, which is available with Black or Black with Ski Gray accents as interior colors. The seats are covered in cloth and premium vinyl upholstery with Storm Blue stitching. The leather-wrapped steering wheel features audio controls to manage your music settings easily. The standard safety operations include blindspot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, to keep you going.
The third trim is known as the Altitude. It offers the same interior color palettes as the Latitude Plus. It also takes the standard safety features of the Latitude Plus and adds ParkSense rear park assist with stop to help keep you safe on the roads.
Then we have the Upland model, which is available with the same interior colors as the base Latitude version. Most of its variations can be seen from the outside, which we will cover in a bit.
The fifth trim is the Limited. This version offers the same interior colors as the Latitude Plus and the Altitude. The seats are heated and cooled with premium Nappa leather trim for comfort all year long. To keep your hands cozy on cooler days the steering wheel is also heated. Upgrading the infotainment interface to the Uconnect 4C NAV, this system operates on a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen.
For people who love off-roading, the Trailhawk is the perfect Cherokee model for you. We have already mentioned several of the performance features that this version comes with. It also has hill ascent and descent control for getting up and down steep hills with no trouble at all. This model is only available with a Black interior.
Finally, the top-of-the-line trim is the High Altitude. Only available with a blacked-out cabin as well, this model features soft-touch seating with Nappa leather trim. The refined cabin invites you in with its heated seats and steering wheel, which are ideal for the winter months.
Rolling on 17-inch aluminum wheels, the Latitude trim features LED headlights and standard foglamps for optimized visibility. The Latitude Plus rides on 17-inch satin carbon aluminum wheels. The wheel design is the only difference in the exterior of these two trims.
The Altitude features larger 18-inch gloss black 5-spoke aluminum wheels and gloss black badging for a sleek look. However, the Upland model rides on smaller 17-inch black aluminum wheels and features aggressively-styled front and rear fascias. Matte black tow hooks are also included, and the badging is done in black with Sky Blue edging for a high-contrast style.
Riding on 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, the Limited features a power liftgate that makes it easy to load up the cargo area even when your hands are full. On the other hand, the Trailhawk model offers two wheel choices. You opt for the 17-inch diamond-cut aluminum wheels or the 17-inch black aluminum wheels. Dual red tow hooks are located on the front of the vehicle, and one more is situated at the rear.
Lastly, the High Altitude rides on the largest 19-inch granite crystal aluminum wheels and features body-colored fascias and granite crystal badging.
As for exterior paint colors, Jeep is well-known for its rainbow hues. However, color choices vary depending on trim. Let’s break them down so that you have a better idea about what you will get. The base is available in seven shades, including Diamond Black Crystal Pearl, Blue Shade Pearl, Billet Silver Metallic, Light Brownstone Pearl, Olive Green Pearl, Velvet Red Pearl, and Bright White. The Latitude Plus is available in all of those shades plus two more gray options, which are called Granite Crystal Metallic and Sting-Gray. For the Altitude model, you get one more color choice called Hydro Blue Pearl. The Upland drops back down to the same original seven colors on the base trim, and the Limited is available in the same nine paint colors as the Latitude Plus.
Shaking things up a bit, the Trailhawk comes in the original seven colors of the Latitude, but it is also available in Hydro Blue Pearl from the Altitude level. As for the top-tier High Altitude model, it is only available in three colors, which include Diamond Black Crystal Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, and Velvet Red Pearl.
