Calling all Jeep lovers! It’s time to stop worshipping from afar and start driving your dream Jeep! Why is now the perfect time to buy a Jeep? It’s the automaker’s 80th anniversary, and the Limited Edition line of 2021 Jeeps launched to celebrate the occasion is nothing short of amazing. Here we’ll entice you with all the details, starting with what makes this Limited Edition line so unique. Where’s the best Jeep dealership near me, you ask? It’s time to find out and head over to see what has automotive journalists and Jeep fans so excited.

Jeeps are extraordinary vehicles because they always stand out. Whether they’re part of the typical model year lineup or – in this case – an exceptional Limited Edition series, Jeep designs its vehicles to feed our rugged, adventurous nature. Jeep knows that we all have a little wanderlust, and our daily lives don’t always give us opportunities to explore and embark on real adventures. Driving a Jeep gives us a little slice of that feeling every time we slide behind the wheel.

From the perennial Wrangler to the family-friendly Jeep Grand Cherokee, this Jeep model range has something for everyone. On a budget? Check out the Jeep Compass. Want something even more unique? How about the  Jeep Gladiator, which combines the best of the four-door Wrangler with a pickup vibe. Whatever your selection, you’ll find 80 years of quality, dependability, and rugged good looks woven into every vehicle.

An 80 Year History of Innovation

Jeep started as a military brand of vehicles back in 1941 and was the primary four-wheel drive vehicle used by the Armed Forces throughout World War 2. Some say that this early Jeep paved the way for later military-inspired consumer vehicles – like the Humvee – but Jeep started it all. The first consumer production Jeep model, known as the CJ, hit the market in 1945, and the company has never looked back.

The Jeep Wrangler is the poster child for the entire Jeep brand. This beloved and unique Jeep is not quite an SUV and not quite a truck. Virtually competitor-proof, the Jeep Wrangler is beloved by folks of all ages, demographics, and driving styles. It symbolizes adventure and rugged good fun and has inspired the whole line of Jeep vehicles that we know today. The Wrangler is known for its short wheelbase and solid front and rear axles. It’s an off-roading warrior and sets the bar for other similar vehicles in its class.

The Willys nameplate is another iconic example of Jeep’s innovation, and the company’s continuous home runs with buyers and Jeep fans alike. The name comes from the original company name of what’s now known as Jeep. Willys-Overland was an American automaker that was second in size only to Ford Motor Company. They bid for and won the rights to produce the military version of the Jeep in the 1940s. After the war, Willys-Overland made the first production vehicles for the American market. While the nickname Jeep would soon stick with the brand, the Willys-Overland name still lives on.

The Willys name is beloved by Jeep enthusiasts because it was under the Willys-Overland ownership that the earliest version of the Jeep Wrangler was born. Later, Willys-Overland released the commercial version of the Wrangler. Known as the CJ-3, this 1948 early version Jeep Wrangler started an 80-year love affair with outdoorsy adventure-seekers. Even Jeep refers to the CJ-3 as the “father of recreational vehicles” and continues to this day to offer Willys Special Edition Wranglers to celebrate this heritage.

80th Anniversary Features

Jeep’s 80th Anniversary Limited Edition cars include six different popular models: the Wrangler, the Compass, the Gladiator, the Grand Cherokee, the Cherokee, and the Jeep Renegade. Jeep has outfitted these models with special 80th Anniversary Edition badging on the interior and exterior to differentiate them from the standard Jeep line and celebrate its milestone.

The automaker also provides an 8.4-inch touchscreen standard across the entire Limited Edition model range. These 80th edition gems are all standard with Granite crystal metallic exterior details, giving them a uniform appearance and further differentiating them from their regular siblings. The color gives these models a more aggressive curb appeal, and the uniformity of the color scheme is a cool and edgy touch.

Jeep is also expanding its popular Jeep Wave ownership program from 24 to 36 months. While this applies to the entire 2021 Jeep lineup – not just the 80th Anniversary vehicles – it’s a nice bonus that consumers will love. Included are: first three oil changes and tire rotations, as long as they happen in the first 36 months of ownership (which they should!), 24/7 roadside assistance for 5-years/60,000 miles, no-charge car rentals when receiving routine maintenance, and 24/7 access to live Jeep customer support.

Pricing and Model Lineup

With a price range from $26,000 to just over $42,000, this lineup of 80th Anniversary Limited Edition Jeeps offers something for everyone, even the budget-conscious. Starting with the small but mighty Renegade, at an MSRP of $26,095, Jeep remembers that some buyers want to start on the affordable end of the lineup but still want to own a piece of Jeep history. Next is the Jeep Compass, with an MSRP of $28,195, the $32,305 Cherokee, and the venerable anchor Wrangler at $36,235. The Gladiator comes in at $41,985, and the luxurious Grand Cherokee, at $42,580. Each of these vehicles is unique in their lines, and offer some fun highlights.

The Jeep Renegade delivers budget in a compact SUV package but provides enough optional packages and equipment to up the luxury component. It is truly the best of both worlds, giving budget buyers an affordable way into the Jeep line and allowing buyers with a little more cash to go smaller but still equip their Renegade with upper-end features. The Luxury Group II Package, for example, comes with LED headlights, fog lights, and taillights, and several driver-assist systems, like automatic high beams and park-assist. For just $1,995, the Sun/Sound Group adds a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and a premium Kenwood audio system.

The aggressive 2021 Jeep Gladiator is Jeep’s non-traditional answer to a classic pickup truck. Taking its styling cues from the popular four-door Wrangler, the Gladiator adds a truck bed for added utility. In the 80th Anniversary Limited Edition, buyers get standard 18-inch Granite Crystal Aluminum Wheels and All-Terrain tires. Jeep offers five optional tops to customize the Gladiator, including a Dual Top Group, a Premium Black Sunrider Soft-Top, a Black Freedom 3-Piece Hard Top, a Mesh Sunbonnet Top, and a Solid Sunbonnet Top. All are different and contribute to giving the Gladiator a custom exterior appearance.

Celebrate 80 Years With Jeep

Suppose you’re lucky enough to call one of the 80th Anniversary Limited Edition Jeeps your own. In that case, you’ll not only own America’s favorite off-roading brand, but you’ll carve out a significant slice of American automotive history. It’s like a museum piece in your driveway and a moving tribute to the Jeep brand. Jeep has captured hearts and minds for 80 years. It’s a brand that has carried our troops through wartime and evolved the car business to make room for the now ubiquitous SUV.

We here at Orange Coast CDJR in Costa Mesa are sure ready to have some fun in these special edition Jeeps. Jeep keeps carrying on with a close and protective eye on its roots and an unwavering commitment to continuing to produce not only great vehicles but a lifestyle. Excitement. Off-roading. Adventure.
