We all know the hunt for a used car can be a little daunting, but we’re here to add a little excitement to your next used car search by talking about some vehicles with a little power under the hood. Don’t worry, we know you might be thinking that having more power might up the price, but we want you to know that we’ll only be mentioning affordable options. So if you’re like any number of people thinking, “Where can I find some affordable used cars near me?” Well, look no further because we have everything you need right here.

Here at Orange Coast CJDRF, we believe cars should be both reliable and affordable. We know that if you’re looking into used cars, then you’re most likely looking for a deal, which is exactly what we want to offer you. From Dodge and Ford to Jeep and Ram, we have the best vehicles on the market to suit your needs.

Dodge

If you didn’t know, the Dodge brand has been around since the year 1900. Yes, it’s that old. But don’t worry, the cars are more up-to-date and modern than ever, and with 120 years of automotive knowledge under their belts, the good people at Dodge know just what their consumers are looking for. And the people want the classics, like the Charger and Challenger.

Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger first started production back in the 1960s. It hasn’t had a clear run of production since then, but we’re now into the seventh generation of Chargers, so you could definitely say it’s been a decently popular car. Known for its wide-body stance, muscle car heritage, and sporty stylings—the Charger is always going to be a for sure head-turner.

Today, you can find 2020 Dodge Chargers in a variety of trim levels, including the SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, and SRT Hellcat Widebody. These all come standard as RWD, although there is also an SXT AWD variant. Starting MSRP prices will range from $29,895 (SXT) to $69,645 (SRT Hellcat Widebody), which is a huge difference in price. Most people looking into getting a Charger will be more comfortable in the sub-$40,000 range where most of the trims will start at.

The nice thing is if you’re looking into used Chargers, then these prices will drop even more. A lot of low-mileage Dodge Chargers that might only be a few years off the newest model can easily be found in the $20,000 – $30,000 range of prices. For such an affordable price, you’re able to get a lot of muscle. The 2018 Charger standard engine is a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with up to 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. As you move up the line, though, you’ll encounter the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine (up to 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque), 392 Hemi V8 engine (up to 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque), and the Supercharged 6.2L Hemi SRT Hellcat V8 engine (up to 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque

Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger, just like the Charger, also has a long and storied history. It also started production back in the 1960s and is still being made today. Now, it can actually be slightly confusing to the new Dodge buyer what the difference is between the Charger and Challenger. The main point of difference is in the looks of each vehicle. The Challenger has a unique exterior look that reminds one of a classic muscle car, especially with the big and bold front grille and the 2-door style. Meanwhile, the Charger has more modern stylings all around and is built in the 4-door fashion.

Your 2020 Dodge Challenger comes in the same trim levels as the 2020 Dodge Charger, although there are a few more variants of Hellcat at the uppermost trims. There is also the addition of a GT AWD option. Starting MSRP prices for 2020 will range from $27,995 (SXT) to $76,595 (SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody), so it’s still pretty close to the range of the new Chargers. You can expect similar prices on used Challengers as you would on used Chargers. Not old in the least, low mileage Challengers can easily be found in the $20,000 – $30,000 price range.

The engine options on 2020 Challengers will be nearly identical to those of 2018 Chargers.

Trucks

It wouldn’t be right to talk about vehicles with some muscle if we didn’t mention a couple of trucks in here. Although they’re not usually bought for their performance on the road, pickups still have the power to compete with the best of them.

Ford F-Series

A red 2018 Ford F-150, which is a popular option among used cars near me, is driving through a mud puddle near Costa Mesa, CA.

The most popular vehicle in the United States now for decades is the F-Series, which is your classic American pickup. It’s rugged, durable, and tough. And yet it will still drive more than fine on the pavement. It comes in the form of three different versions, including the F-150, F-250, and F-350. The F-150 is by far the most popular since it’s capable of just about any needs the average person or family may have, but the F-250 and F-350 are there for those of you that need the extra capabilities of these bigger variants. Your 2018 F-150 trims include the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor.

Pickup trucks, in general, have very good resale values, which means they aren’t going to drop down in price as dramatically as some other vehicles might. That’s because they’re popular, don’t normally have a lot of mileage, and are quite reliable. Still, you’ll be able to get thousands of dollars off the price of a brand new pickup when you’re looking into used options, and it’s no different for any of the F-Series trucks.

Recent model years of the F-150 pickups have a lot of engines to choose from, including a 3.5L EcoBoost engine that has up to 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. There’s also the new 3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine that has an EPA-estimated 30 highway MPG, which is amazing mileage for a pickup. A few other engine options include a 3.3L V6 with up to 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 with up to 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, and a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 with up to 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.

With this truck, you won’t find a new model on our lot, but as they are popular models, used ones come and go through our lot frequently.
