The Expansive 2022 Ram 1500 Lineup Goes From Budget-Friendly to High-End Luxury

Finding Ram trucks for sale when you’re on a budget is surprisingly easy. That’s because the 2022 Ram pickup comes in a variety of trims, including the Tradesman, a truck that’s tailor-made for the job site and ready for hard work. But what if luxury is more your style? There’s a Ram truck for you, too.
The point is, it’s the Ram’s variety that makes it a truly special full-size pickup offering. It doesn’t discriminate by price, nor does it leave out discerning buyers who value high-end features like leather seating, a heated steering wheel, or a power moonroof. Even high performance thrill-seekers will find a Ram that’s tailor-made for speed.
What’s your driving personality? Are you practical or a no-dollar-limit buyer? For some, buying a truck is purely about capability. The decision centers on how much it can tow and how many pounds of payload it can haul to the site. Whatever you’re after, we guarantee you’ll find it in the expansive 2022 Ram trucks lineup. With six trims and even more special edition models, the newest Ram is all about variety. Here are a few of our favorite Ram 1500 trims.
The Affordable and Capable Tradesman
Buying a truck for the job site doesn’t usually involve a lot of emotion. You need a pickup that can get the job done, plain and simple. Color doesn’t matter, nor do extra creature comforts. It’s a price and capability-driven equation, which is why the 2022 Ram 1500 Tradesman, available in 4×2 or 4×4, is the best place to start.
With its mid-$30,000 starting price range, the Tradesman keeps it simple. Choose from either a Crew Cab or Quad Cab, with the former offered in both a short and long-bed configuration. The Quad Cab is only available with the longer 6’4” bed. It’s powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower and up to 7,730 pounds of towing capability. It’s ideal for fleet buyers or those looking for an affordable pickup for everyday use.
Inside, you’ll find very few high-end creature comforts, but that’s intentional. Choose from cloth or vinyl seating surfaces, and settle for the included 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen or upgrade to the available 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen option for more functionality and easy smartphone connectivity via the included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Because the Ram 1500 Tradesman is tailored to commercial buyers and those looking for no-frills capability, it’s no surprise that buyers can spend a little more for a larger, more powerful engine. The optional 5.7-liter V8 HEMI increases output to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The V8 HEMI eTorque version adds 130 lb-ft of supplemental launch torque that will help it achieve a max towing capacity of 12,750 pounds.

The High-End Luxury Limited
Are you seeking a traditional pickup truck with premium luxury features that rival even the fanciest European imports? Ram built the 1500 Limited for you. This top-of-the-line flagship trim features premium leather seating with heated/ventilated front bucket seats, authentic wood accenting throughout the cabin, and a massive 12-inch portrait-mounted touchscreen.
The Limited comes standard with the larger 5.7-liter V8, but buyers can opt for an available 3.0-liter V6 Turbo Diesel engine that boasts a whopping 480 lb-ft of torque instead. If you’re towing the boat to your weekend fishing cabin, we recommend the optional Trailer Tow Group that adds a Trailer Brake-Controller, a Trailer Light Check, and a Trailer Reverse Steering Control feature that makes backing up easier.
To max out the luxury, add the Limited Level 1 Equipment Group. Among the package’s add-ons is a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon premium sound system, a Head-Up Display, a Surround View Camera System, and a series of driver-assist safety and convenience systems. These systems include Adaptive Cruise Control and Parallel and Perpendicular Park-Assist, which simplify some of the more mundane and repetitive aspects of driving (like highway travel).
The Ram 1500 Limited features standard 20-inch wheels and all-season tires. The innovative Multi-Function tailgate can be had for around $1,000 more, adding even more functionality to the bed. Coupling the upgraded tailgate with the available RamBox Cargo Management System gives you tons of storage and hauling configurations, as well as a 115-volt AC outlet that comes in handy while camping or tailgating.
The Beastly TRX
If you’re not afraid of being at the helm of a truck that puts 702-horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque at your fingertips, perhaps you’re a candidate for the Ram 1500 TRX. Traveling from zero-to-sixty in a blistering 3.7 seconds, the TRX is not your everyday pickup. It’s 8 inches wider than its siblings, thanks to the muscular fender flares, and it sits on massive 35-inch all-terrain tires that lend an extra dose of aggressiveness to its street presence.
Drivers can select from eight drive modes and utilize trim exclusive performance tools like Launch Control and Launch Assist to optimize acceleration and output. All that power derives from a Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that sounds as menacing as it performs. Wrap your hands tightly around the D-shaped steering wheel and prepare to blow the doors off your neighbor’s full-size pickup.
If the incredible TRX just isn’t truck enough, you’ll be happy to hear that Ram is releasing a limited quantity (875, to be exact) of the special edition TRX Ignition Edition for the 2022 model year. It features exclusive Ignition Orange exterior paint and special 18-inch black wheels, along with custom accents and features in the cabin that you won’t find on the mainstream TRX.
Speaking of the TRX’s cabin, all TRX models are configured as Crew Cabs and include a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, a center console shifter, and buyers can add extras like a digital rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and heated front seats by choosing from a handful of optional equipment packages. At the high end, the $10,000 TRX Level 2 Equipment Group adds just about every feature imaginable.

The Versatile Ram 1500 Lineup
For 2022, Ram offers the 1500 pickup in multiple trims for buyers at all price points. The concept of a pickup with everything from affordable stripped work trucks to off-the-charts street performers is exciting enough, but when you overlay the countless accolades bestowed on the Ram 1500 year after year, you won’t consider another brand.
Car and Driver gives the 2022 Ram 1500 a perfect 10/10 rating and puts it on the coveted 10Best Vehicles list. It does the same in a separate review of the TRX. The Ram 1500 also received the Consumer Guide Best Buy award again in 2021 for a 13th consecutive year, and MotorTrend named the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX its Truck of the Year, exclaiming that it’s a “benchmark” for all other trucks that “resets the standard of what’s possible.”
Buying a 2022 Ram 1500 is a smart choice for pickup buyers, but not just because of its class-leading capability and long list of accolades; choosing a Ram 1500 buys you access to what is arguably the best pickup of all time. Sure, some nameplates may sell more units, but none match the combination of style, quality, and versatility found on the Ram 1500. And with multiple trims and a handful of special edition models available, you won’t have any trouble finding one to suit your needs.
